The Solution
Manufacture of laundry detergents in batch operations
The majority of bulk components is supplied in bulk tankers and filled into the storage silos by means of pneumatic conveying. Alternatively, materials can also be supplied in big bags. Vacuum conveyors are used to transfer bulk components from the silos or directly from big bag discharge stations onto conveying scales.
Depending on the formulation selected in formulation management, the bulk and medium components are filled into the vacuum conveying scales located above the mixer.
The required levels of accuracy are obtained using frequency-controlled dosing screws and by using shut-off delay times that are allocated to each raw material for vacuum conveying.
Minor components are pre-weighed at a separate discharge station and incorporated in the closed process.
The batch that is ready on the conveying scales is discharged into the mixer. During the mixing process, perfumes and other liquids are sprayed onto the batch as required.
After the mixing process, the mixer discharges the batches into a hopper. From there the product is conveyed carefully and without segregation into two buffer hoppers, which serve as feed tanks for the next filling operation.
The Kastor process control and instrumentation system with formulation management ensures that production is both reliable and efficient and that the plant, mixer and filling operate at capacity.
